Juvederm and Laser Lipo

Laser liposuction and Juvéderm are popular ways for clients of New England Laser Lipo to reduce the tell-tale signs of aging or to get rid of that last pocket of fat around their middle or on their thighs, buttocks or under their upper arms once and for all.

Juvéderm is a dermal filler that’s been favored by our patients for years. It’s made of hyaluronic acid, which is a perfectly natural substance that’s a part of all living beings. It’s a type of sugar that helps to hydrate the skin and make it supple. When Juvéderm is injected into an area over a wrinkle, the area is given extra volume and the wrinkle smoothes out. The hyaluronic acid used in Juvéderm is synthetic, which means it’s not derived from animal products. This means the chances for a bad allergic reaction are close to none.

When a patient comes into our Worcester, Massachusetts office for a Juvéderm treatment, we might administer a topical anesthetic if he or she wishes it. After the anesthetic starts to work, our dermatologist will inject the Juvéderm beneath the skin with a fine needle. The session shouldn’t last much longer than 30 minutes and is often less. Afterwards, the patient might e given an ice pack to put on the area to keep down any swelling. But the Juvéderm treatment is an outpatient procedure, and the patient can resume his or her daily activities quite soon. There might be a bit of redness and bruising in the area, but that will fade after a few days. Depending on the depth of the lines and wrinkles, the patient might need to come in for follow up treatments. He or she should see results in a few weeks and the results will last up to six months.

Laser liposuction is a treatment that uses laser to help remove stubborn, unwanted fat from areas of the body. Instead of just vacuuming out the fat with brute force, a cannula is inserted into the area and a laser fiber actually causes the fat to melt. That way, it’s easier to pull out of the body. The operation also has the benefit of simulating the patient’s body into producing collagen, a substance that also makes skin elastic and youthful. Laser lipo also causes less bleeding in the area and the patient needs only local anesthesia. As with traditional liposuction, the fat cells are gone forever.
